Seems the Taliban have been attempting a little "Liberal" PR campaign with regards to a Navy SEAL they claimed to have captured and beheaded.

My heart still goes out to that brave man and his mates who perished on that rescue mission.

36 Senators Object to Gonzales' Confirmation as Attorney General

In what was originally expected to be an uncontroversial vote, 35 Democrats and 1 independent voted against the confirmation of Alberto Gonzales, raising pointed questions about his role laying the legal groundwork for the Abu Ghraib torture scandal. The dissenting votes Gonzales was confirmed by just 60-36 -- the second most "no" votes for any confirmed attorney general in history. (The first was Ashcroft.) MoveOn members played a major role in getting this on the radar, making it a referendum on torture and generating a real opposition.

I think it was due to the fact that he had those illegal immigrants watching his kids-No, wait, that was Clinton's FIRST nominee to AG. And his second. The third was a megalomaniacal she-beast who cut Lon Horiuchi loose to shoot an unarmed kid in the back and a woman holding a baby.

Burning my Flag

Seems to me that the folks who choose to burn the flag have it all wrong.
Let me start by saying that I think I am as American as they come. Patriotic, serving in the Military, love the occasional hot dog and apple pie. That being said, here comes the shocker: I think you should be allowed to burn as many American flags as you wish!

BUT...(and as you will see, there will almost ALWAYS be a but)

You need to realize EXACTLY what it means to burn the flag (as an American).

My flag is a symbol of my Nation. As such, the way you (dis)respect the flag HAS to be a direct reflection of the way you feel about America. If you are truly so distraught over the way the Country is going, if you TRULY feel that you see the flag as a representative of the Country, and if you think that things have reached a point where you have to destroy the Country in effigy, burn away!

Then leave.

Yep, get out. If this Country holds nothing for you, leave. Go somewhere else. Find a Country that is more in line with your way of thinking.

If you are not willing to do this, if you want to both burn and hide behind my flag, you are just a bratty child looking for attention.

And I will have to spank you.
